Introduction |
“Hi, I’m Sam Gribley. Many years ago I spent a wonderful year full of adventures on a beautiful mountainside in the Catskills. Often people will ask me, ‘What was it REALLY like to go and live off the land, on your own? Would you do it again?” You may never have the opportunity to actually go live on a mountain alone for a year, but now the experience can come to you through the Internet! To begin you will need to do a little bit of research about basic survival skills, like I did before I began my journey. After that it’s off to YOUR side of the mountain to learn how to survive in the mountains in your state. I would really like to hear how you get along, so could you keep a journal and take lots of pictures? In fact, you can put your journal entries right on the Internet in a Classroom Blog. Don’t worry, your teacher will show you how to do that. I’m looking forward to reading all about your amazing adventures as you make discoveries about your state, and about yourself while acquiring survival skills most people never learn. Good luck!” |
